Tennis Betting

The tennis odds on a field bet are typically comparable to a bet on the favorite in order to protect sportsbooks from taking a big hit if a major upset occurs. In exchange for a lesser payout, field bettors gain the advantage of having more than one entrant that can win for them.

Some sportsbooks will also allow you to bet futures on the four major major tournaments, which is yet another way you can Bet to Win that can offer you appealing odds because you are betting far in advance of when the event takes place.

Other possibilities for betting tennis include proposition bets on the number of sets a match lasts. There are several advantages to betting at elite online sportsbooks but the very best will give you the most wagering opportunities, so its a good idea to shop around and find out what everybody has to offer.

For those of you with less experience, several sports web sites have power rankings for players which should give you a good idea of whos hot on the tennis court and whos not. Hopefully now you understand the basics of betting tennis and how tennis odds work.

Tennis Rules

All matches have action regardless of completion date.

A "Walk Over Winner" (player concedes before a match) and matches which do not complete the first set are graded no action. Any match concluding after the first set is completed, will be graded with the advancing player as the winner.

First set proposition wagering has action if the first set is completed. Other props involving the match are no action if a participant resigns/concedes during a match. The moneyline on the match itself is the only wagering option which is not considered a prop.

Set betting

Betting may be offered on the outcome of a match in terms of set results. Women always play the best of 3 sets, and men may play the best of 3 or 5. There are 4 possible results for a 3 set match (2-0 or 2-1 to either player) and 6 options for a 5 set match (3-0, 3-1, or 3-2 to either player). Prices are offered for each outcome.

Match Ups

Both players must complete one set for wagers on the match to stand. Should one set not be completed all wagers are void on that match. After one set is completed who ever progresses to the next round will be deemed the winner.

In the event being started but not completed irrespective of the amount of sets all wagers on correct score set wagering shall be deemed void.

Fixed Odds

Like other similar types of contests, you may wager on a player to win a tournament at fixed odds. Tournament wagers are considered "All-In." In the event of the player not playing in the tournament wagers on the player will be deemed losers, unless otherwise specified.

When the following circumstances take place all wagers will stand:

  • A change of playing surface
  • A change of venue
  • A change from indoor court to outdoor court or vice versa

Where a market is offered which relates to the number of occurrences of certain events (e.g. the number of aces) within a tournament and the tournament is postponed or cancelled, or the length of the tournament is reduced, any wager on such a market shall be void.

Matches are graded when the event goes final and is deemed official.
