Football Betting

Football betting is not like the other traditional casino games. Those games are games of chance where the house always has a built-in edge. The house will always win those casino games because they have a negative expected return for the bettor.

Football betting is different in that you can choose which games to wager on and which games to pass on. By only betting on games that have a positive expected return and passing on games that have negative expected return, the football betting enthusiast can turn the tables on the sportsbook and put himself in the position to always have the edge!

So, when football betting you should always be looking for a correlating cause and effect that is not considered by the bookmakers and the football betting public. When you find this you have a tremendous edge in beating the line!

Again this is not an online football betting method that I use solely in selecting winners, but it can always be a nice reassurance that a game you like is a good pick. My advice is to look at the components that make up the game not the line.

The final football betting method is called technical analysis. This football betting method studies the trends and patterns that develop within a season. Football brings the best examples of this. There are certain types of trends that we focus on. These trends are the ones that generally develop because of tough situations or psychological problems.

For example, Michigan is 1-7 against the spread in their last 8 games following a bye week. Florida is 1-6 against the spread in their past 7 home openers. Alabama is 3-8 against the spread in their past 11 meetings with Mississippi State. These are called a situational trends.

In my opinion technical analysis is the best football betting tool to use when handicapping a game. That is why I have put so much time into providing you with the situational trends I have found that can be used to win big bucks. Although I use this football betting method consistently every week, it is by no means the only measure I use.

Football Rules

Pointspread & Over/Under Wagers

On a pointspread wager, the team wagered must win by the pointspread. On an over/under wager, the total points of the contest by both teams, overtime included, must fall over or under the side selected. Pointspread and Over/Under lines will be offered on all NFL, AFL and NCAA contests.

Halftime Wagers

Halftime wagering is simply a wager only on the score of the first, or second half of a contest. The line offered will be a pointspread, a moneyline, or a combination of the two.

Quarter Wagers

Wagering on quarters is simply a wager only on the score of the first, second, third or fourth quarter of a contest. These lines will be offered on marquee events. The line offered will be a pointspread, a moneyline, or a combination of the two.

Moneyline Wagers

Moneyline Wagering is simply wagering on the contest based on a given price rather than a pointspread. The team wagered on just has to win the game.

Point Buying

This is a method of allowing the bettor to improve the pointspread of a football contest by actually "buying points" for the team he/she wants to wager, side or total. Bettors can buy points in 1/2 point increments up to 3 points, depending on the contest. Each 1/2 point costs the bettor an additional 10% vigorish.
